Sesame Seed Oil

In many Asian countries, the tiny sesame seeds have been famous as a source of cooking oil since 4000 years ago. Unfortunately, in the developed countries the sesame oil is mostly obtained by chemical extraction, which results in an insipid and tasteless oil. On the contrary, sesame oil is an authentic cold pressed oil, extracted at a temperature of 45°C and has the flavor of ripe sesame seeds. Sesame seeds contain natural preservatives as sesamol and sesamolin. When it is kept at lower temperatures, the sesame oil becomes partially thickened which shows that the oil has a high percentage of monounsaturated and saturated fatty acids. This keeps the oil stable and gives it a longer shelf life.
